1Primary and qualified backups

For a knowledge area, mark each holder Primary or Backup and enter proficiency from 1 to 5. Only people meeting the selected qualification threshold count. A person cannot count twice in the same area.

2KRR formula

KRR = qualified backup holders / qualified primary holders. With 2 primary holders and 3 qualified backups, KRR is 3 / 2 = 1.5. No primary denominator displays Not available.

3Coverage formula

KRR Coverage = critical knowledge areas with at least one qualified backup / all critical knowledge areas. If 9 of 12 critical areas have backups, coverage is 9 / 12 = 0.75 = 75%.

4Interpretation

Coverage ≤25% is critical, ≤50% high risk, ≤75% moderate, and above 75% strong redundancy. These application thresholds are not industry certification standards. Review individual areas: a healthy overall ratio may still hide one crucial single-owner process.
